Harvest Kitchen & Lounge

Solon has a new restaurant! It's Harvest Kitchen & Lounge in the space that Arabica used to occupy.I think it's going to fill a niche that hasn't been filled in Solon for as long as I can remember: an upscale cozy restaurant. The other places are a mix of lunch spots for the various businesses or mainly chain restaurants. There are a few exceptions with places like Jimmy Daddonna's but none of them have the more upscale ambiance. We arrived at around 6 (they open at 5) today (Wednesday) and there were plenty of open tables. By the time we were leaving most of the tables had been filled up which is a good sign! (New place and a Wednesday at that)Hey have a wide ranging menu trying to focus on mainly locally-sourced products. The space is small and intimate without feeling cramped. We started off with the pastrami "Hanky Panky's" which are a re-envisioning of a ruben as an open-faced sandwich. I would have eaten several serving as my meal. The Russian dressing provided a nice balance without being overly sweet.Next up I had the steak frites that came with the duck fat-fried fries. Both were very well prepared. There was some creamed spinach buried in there as well. The steak came out properly medium rare on a scorching hot plate over some salsa verde. I would tend to call the sauce more of a pesto, but technically it was green.Ennie got her burger on with a Kobe beef burger with a fried egg on top. Nice!My only complaint is that En ordered one Left Hand beer and got another. <shrug/> They were both good beers apparently. We opted for a walk instead of desert so I can't really comment on that.Overall I think dinner for two coming in under $60 (with drinks and appetizer) isn't such a bad deal. You can spend almost as much going to a bar-and-grill and not get the same level of food.I was also surprised by the good service for such a new place. (I know that sounds like a back-handed compliment, but it's not intended to be. Most new places get hung up on service while they get up to speed. Harvest had it right from the beginning! Cool!)I'm sure we'll be back!Harvest Kitchen & Lounge33730 Bainbridge RdSolon, OH 44139440-349-6520http://www.harvestsolon.com/
