"To be" or not "to be"

"This sentence needs fixed."Yes. Yes it does. It needs a damn verb."That sentence needs to be fixed."I've witnessed this in the past four or five years. Somehow, it seems, "to be" has become optional and gets dropped from speech."The car needs fixed.""The paper needs done.""The router needs configured.""The house needs cleaned.""This trend needs finished."Where did this thing come from? How is dropping the verb a good thing? Hell, the verb "to be" is the most basic of all in the language.Come on people, make sure your sentences at least have a verb in it. Without it you sound like a proverbial caveman.
