Hitting a nerve

Yesterday I posted about me being happy that there wasn't any new legislation about guns and it started a firestorm on Facebook. Now this is going to be a bit more meta...It's popular to be against guns at the moment. The media is all about how they are  inherently bad. Polls are rolled out how it's popular to be against them so you should be too. Popularity doesn't make something right or wrong. The way to win a debate isn't diversionary tactics, but to confront the issue head-on. Sure, it's good to bring a belief into it since it'll make your arguments more sincere. At the same time, while you may be passionate, it's not productive to simply misdirect the issue with something not related to the issue.Yes, I hit a nerve yesterday.
