Honesty

Something I'm learning is the value of honesty.Honesty is more than the notion of simply not lying. Lying is the intentional speaking (or writing, or whatever) things that are not true.Honesty is proactively telling the truth. Telling the truth even when it's not very convenient.Sometimes when it's scary -- either to you or to the person you're telling. Or just fear of the world. The truth is in there. The truth wants to get out. It either gets out or you take it to the grave. Those are about your only real options, right?

Honesty can keep you out of a pinch -- you can move from a position that's annoying to something that's far worse. Honesty can get you into fun -- admitting that you want something and asking for it can be the hardest thing to do. First you have to admit something to yourself and accept the truth of yourself. Then you have to blurt it out and hope for acceptance -- and brace for rejection perhaps. Who knows though, you might get what you want.

Honesty leads to truth. Truth bumps up the contrast of life. The contrasts make things fun. And scary. Sometimes scary fun.
