5S - Part 1

As tradition would foretell since the iPhone 3G I'm going to get the iPhone 5S on launch day. At first Ennie didn't even know I was going to get it since I didn't make a whole lot of noise about it. Honestly, the 5S is partly an incremental upgrade from the iPhone 5 -- but at the same time I can see it getting to the point where I wouldn't want to go back. The biggest thing I'm looking forward to is the much talked about fingerprint scanner on the home button. For some reason I'm not afraid of the NSA getting my prints since I'm sure that they already have it. I'm looking forward to not typing in my passcode damn near every time I open my phone.(Aside: I hope that Amazon and/or Apple makes it so that the fingerprint unlock works as a passcode so I'm not forced to use a passcode regardless for my work account.)The rest seems to be pretty much incremental upgrades -- things that I'm sure I will notice and love, but things I don't know I'll love beforehand. Better camera. Faster processor. Better graphics. Motion coprocessor. All good upgrades... but none stunning.Since I can't preorder, I think I'll have to get in line early on Friday and pick one up in person.  :-)
