Glass - Part 1

I have some pretty schmick kit for my camera that I've accumulated over many, many years. Take the 17-35 f/2.8 that I got back around 1996 or so. Or the 70-200 f/2.8 I got in 1998 or thereabouts. I can say they are old lenses, but they work a treat still.Hell, the 70-200 is still a current SKU at Canon to this day.Mind you, both of them have been superseded twice since I got them.I started thinking about perhaps upgrading them, but I couldn't justify paying full freight on the new ones. That's when I decided to check ebay to see what they're going for. That's when I got a shocker. The 70-200 is selling for ~ $950-$1000 used. I think I paid around $1200 for it. That works out to around $200 for the use of the lens over a decade and a half! The 17-35, which by today's standards is a middling performer is going for around $650.Granted, this isn't Leica glass, but I'm still amazed how well this holds its value.
