Antifa Redux

Last weekend there was a bit of a scrimmage in Portland between masked members of Antifa and anyone perceived to be their enemy.

So a gay Asian journalist who was reporting on their tactics gets beaten to the point of a brain hemorrhage. And an elderly man was struck with a crowbar. Among other attacks, including "milkshakes" with fast setting cement (which contains lye and can cause chemical burns).

Violence is violence. We ought to denounce violence regardless of who is the perpetrator or the victim. I honestly don't give a fuck if Adolf fucking Hitler gets reincarnated and shows up in Pioneer Square in Seattle. Until Mr. Hilter does something besides saying mean things, you don't fucking attack someone. You don't respond to words with attacks, I don't care who you are.

A physical assault of someone in response to words or feelings is never the answer; I don't care how right you think you are.

You fight words with better words. If you escalate, you are the bad guy, even if you are "right" in your own worldview.

Honestly, other than their color, I'm having a very hard time distinguishing between the Nazi brownshirts and the present day Antifa. If you aren't toeing the line, you get beat up.

That is not the way to do it.
