Math: It works, bitches.

Ennie's company had their holiday party today. They had raffles for bunches of prizes. The grand prize was for Macklemore and Ryan Lewis tickets for Thursday. But it wasn't random. You had to guess the number of pieces of candy in a large container. The container was easy: it was a truncated pyramid. The candy likewise seemed easy. I guessed it was roughly 1/2 in^3 per piece. There was a variety of candy in there, but my guess stood at .5. It also made the math easy. :-PThe base of the candy was around 4 in and the top around 2 in. This made the math easy -- since the edge was straight I could assume 3" and move on. It was filled with 18" of candy. The math worked out to 3 x 3 x 18 / .5. (Or multiply by two for the last step depending on how you roll).324.I didn't think it was that many pieces, but I couldn't help but trust that the math worked out.The actual number was 327.I got second place to someone who guessed the right number. The pair of tickets that I got are going to Holly, my very good friend ( ;-) ), since we'll be in Cleveland at the time. I wish I could go, but at least I know that someone I care about will be using them.Math: It works, bitches.
